Woke up to a rainy day but we were prepared for it. Got out the rain gear and umbrellas and went to our usual cafe for breakfast. Then we got into the car and made our way to Albufeira, a mere 12 km away. We were lucky to find a parking spot within the old town but that was probably due to the rain. While Albufeira is a town of 40,000 with endless hotels, condos and townhouses, the old town is small and very quiet this time of year. I can't imagine this area in the summer. We saw the bell tower, built in 1869, la Igreja Santana, Igreja, Igreja Matriz and some Roman ruins. We enjoy wandering through the narrow, winding streets in these old towns. Eventually we made our way down to the ocean but the views weren't very good today. We walked down to the pier and took in the ocean air. As the rain began harder again we stepped into the Louisiana restaurant, which was right on the water, for some fish and chips. The portions were generous and we brought some back to the apartment for dinner. We walked a little more and even though we didn't finish lunch we found some room for ice cream. At our age there's no one to stop us. Found our car and on the way back we bought a bottle of wine and a few things to go with our left over fish. Nice rainy day to read and relax. Tomorrow it's on to Sagres.
